When I was 4, I borrowed the foreman’s hammer during his lunch hour and built my chair out of plaster lath. At 14, I made a sailboat and cruised Lake Coeur d’Alene. Thirteen years of higher ed later, I got my MD and specialties and practiced medicine until 2006. The day I retired, Deiter showed me how to ‘turn’ wood on Mario Gasperetti’s old lathe. Making stuff is what I do now.
