September 10 – October 8

THREE CONTEMPORARY CHINESE ARTISTS have lived in Seattle for approximately five years. Hai Ying Wu, Laing Wei, and Chen-Xi Fu were raised and academically trained in China and offer a rare glimpse of expatriate Chinese artist living in the United States.

October 14 – November 12

A SENSE OF PLACE is a new body of landscape work by YVCC Art Instructor Bob Fisher which explores his interest in the landscape as a container of space and memory. This work (40+ paintings & drawings) completed during his sabbatical reflect his passion for the Intermountain Northwest.

November 19 – December 17

ART-ICULATION by Louise Williams and Kathy Gore Fuss, both from Olympia, WA, and Pamela Haight, Seattle, WA, is an exhibit of art not only for the mind’s eye but gently touchable, movable, and highly interactive – a partnership with the artist in creation.

January 21 – March 3

40th ANNUAL CENTRAL WASHINGTON ARTISTS EXHIBITION is the largest juried show of the year in this region with approximately $300 in prize money. Open to all residents in Central Washington and all media except photography. This show offers diversity, contemporary issues, progressive ideas, classic skills – it has it all.

March 9 – March 13

CAMPFIRE ART FESTIVAL PROJECTS completed during the last year are exhibited with this year’s media being clay. The creative efforts by local Camp Fire Boys and Girls display imagination, curiosity, and skill.

April 7 – May 5

24th ANNUAL PHOTO EXHIBITION includes photography in all forms from artists throughout the United States. Good prize money and nationally-known jurors make an interesting competition and wonderful exhibition for Yakima.

May 12 – June 6

YVCC ART DEPT. STUDENT & FACULTY EXHIBITION includes work completed during the 95/96 academic year from all levels of art students. The work has been selected by their instructors and shows a tremendous amount of creativity, ingenuity, and ability. Art faculty also show new pieces of work.

June 23 – July 28

EVERGREEN STATE WOMEN ARTISTS is a small group of women artists from Washington showing a wide variety of styles, images, and concerns. These women have been chosen for their individual, expressive, and unique styles of artwork.
