The Larson Gallery Guild honors Yakima philanthropist Helen N. Jewett, whose significant gifts to the community have made Yakima a better place to live. Her donations have ranged from the Yakima Valley Museum Soda Fountain, sousaphones for West Valley High School, the Capitol Theatre and the Larson Gallery … among many others. Helen has been committed to the arts, education, and children of the Yakima Valley. When the community calls, Helen answers often and generously.
Her gift-giving started with her late husband, Donald G. Jewett. “We wanted to leave something for the community that has been good to us,” she said. John Baule, director of the Yakima Valley Museum, says that “Helen Jewett is a gracious, quiet lady who has made a significant difference in the quality of life in Yakima.”
