David Lynx

2012-Present

David Lynx was born in Seattle and grew up on Mercer Island.  He received his A.A. from Bellevue College, B.A. in theatre from the University of Washington, and completed a fifth year in Asian Art History and Language at Whitman College.  He served as Gallery Assistant and Director of the Sheehan Gallery at Whitman College.  After a few years of experience in the museum field, he completed his Masters of Liberal Studies in museology from the University of Oklahoma. 

David Lynx moved to Yakima in 1994 and worked at the Yakima Valley Museum for 18 years, first as Curator of Education, then as Associate Director.  In 1996, he began teaching Asian Art History at Yakima Valley College, then taught classes in Web Design and Photography.  For a year he worked on the Yakima Valley Community College website and taught fellow teachers how to teach online.  He currently teaches Art Appreciation, Asian Art History, and Art of Yoga.  While at the Yakima Valley Museum, he volunteered for the Larson Gallery and served on the Larson Gallery Guild Board.  

In 2012, he was hired as Director of the Larson Gallery. His work in photography, serigraphy, and encaustic has been shown in over 60 group and solo exhibitions.

In addition to his position as Director of the Larson Gallery, he serves on the Yakima Arts Commission, the Millennium Foundation, and the Board of the Yakima Rotary Club.  David has also been a grant reviewer for the Institute of Museum and Library Services.

David continues his studies, receiving a Higher Education Teaching Certification from Harvard University, and has completed his 200hr RYT (Registered Yoga Teacher) certification and with 400 hours of teaching yoga, is working on his 500hr ERYT.
